Licensing & Credentials

State of Oregon requires paid tax preparers to be a CPA, Attorney, LTP or LTC to prepare tax returns in the state of Oregon. The IRS is in the process of implementing a nationwide standard and registration of all tax preparers (with a few exceptions) unless already an EA, CPA or Attorney.

LTP: Licensed Tax Preparer is issued by the Oregon Board of Tax Practitioners. This requires successfully completing the 80-hour tax course and passing an in-depth test on personal taxes and ethics. In following years, they must maintain a minimum of 30 hours of continuing education each year to renew their licensing.

LTC: Licensed Tax Consultant is issued by the Oregon Board of Tax Practitioners. This requires having worked as a licensed tax preparer for a minimum of 1100 hours, passing another in-depth examination, and maintaining a minimum of 30 hours of continuing education each year to renew their licensing.

EA: Enrolled Agent is a certificate of enrollment to practice before the Internal Revenue Service. This requires passing an in-depth 3-part examination and maintaining a minimum of 24 hours (federal rules) of continuing education each year to renew their licensing.

CPA: Certified Public Accountant is licensed and regulated by each state's Board of Accountancy. CPA licenses cover a wide variety of work, where they may specialize in accounting or taxation. We are not a CPA firm, but we do have both accountants and all levels of tax preparers.

Our firm is composed of QuickBooks ProAdvisors, Licensed Tax Consultants, Enrolled agents and Licensed Tax Preparers.
